Judges should stop pampering Tsatsu – Sir John

General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, has weighed in on the altercation that cropped up between Lawyer Philip Addison and Justice Atuguba on Wednesday; stating that the presiding judge had been unfair to their lead counsel.

“Who the heck is Tsikata for the court to pamper? The judges use a cotton stick to beat him and attack Addison with a pestle. Anytime Addison is up to make a comment, some of the judges frown as if they have a problem with him”, he said.

Speaking in an interview with Okay FM, Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie stated that the court had made things easy for the counsel for the third respondents and went further to “insult the intelligence of the judges” who have empanelled to rule over the NPP’s petition seeking to terminate the presidency of President Mahama.

He indicted Justice Atuguba of being bias towards Lawyer Addison anytime he made efforts to address issues; “When it comes to Addison, Atuguba normally shuts him down and orders him to ‘sit down’…but when Tsikata insults them, none of them even cough”.

“I feel sad because when Tsatsu Tsikata stands in court and frowns like a ‘deity’, one particular judge asks him if ‘he is angry’. What the heck?” he rhetorically inquired.
