JHS student ‘kidnaps’ a colleague student for 10 days

Takoradi, Nov. 29, GNA — The Police is investigating a matter in which a male student of Trinity Presbyterian Junior High School (JHS) in Takoradi (name withheld) kept a female student of the school in his room for 10 days.

Nana Kofi Mbeah, Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Director of Education told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Takoradi on Tuesday.

He said the Metropolitan Education Directorate gave the two students indefinite suspension after meeting their parents.

Nana Mbeah said that the students were being counselled while serving their suspension, adding that since the school is a missionary school, the Presbyterian Church had shown keen interest in the case.

He said that the education field officers discovered the absence of the two students during their regular visits to schools to monitor BECE candidates in the Metropolis.

The field officers had intensified the monitoring of candidates, who had registered for the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) in the Metropolis, he added.

Nana Mbeah advised students in the Metropolis and the country at large to take their education seriously to pass their examination and refrain from deviant behaviours that would make them regret in future.
