JAK urged to take personal charge of NHIS

Kumasi, May 7, GNA-The Right Reverend Nuh Ben Abubakr, Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, has appealed to President John Agyekum Kufuor to take personal charge of the implementation of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to ensure its smooth administration.

He said the best legacy the President could bequeath to Ghanaians was a burden free health care delivery.

Rev. Abubakr made the appeal at the 44th annual synod of the Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church, under the theme: ” Let Us Press Forward Towards the Goal”, in Kumasi on Friday.

Rt Rev Abubakr said most Ghanaians were not happy about the way the NHIS was being implemented and that some people were no aware of it, due to the lack of information and awareness on the scheme. Rt Rev Abubakr said the Church had educated its members on the scheme and appointed co-ordinators to help them to register with the NHIS.

He appealed to Ghanaians to support government policies and programmes aimed at improving their socio-economic conditions.
