Solomon Reuben Jabari has been elected chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency, defeating incumbent Simon Aloonga in the party’s executive elections on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
Jabari, who previously chaired the Ahenema Kokoben-Island City Branch, received 1,319 votes, while Aloonga secured 263. The result ushers in a new constituency leadership team responsible for directing the NDC’s activities ahead of the 2028 general elections.
In his first comments after the election, Jabari said his immediate priority would be to unite the party, strengthen cooperation among its members and increase grassroots mobilisation. He said a cohesive constituency organisation would improve the NDC’s prospects against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the next general elections.
“Unity is the key. That was my campaign message, and the delegates have responded accordingly,” he said.
Jabari also promised an administration built around collective effort and sustained work at branch level. He said the party would seek to turn Atwima Kwanwoma into a competitive battleground in 2028.
“I am promising the Atwima Kwanwoma NDC that in 2028, we will work hard together. We will call for unity, and we will call for hard work. In 2028, we will emerge victorious,” Jabari said.
He said his chairmanship would oversee a vigorous challenge to the NPP, with the aim of ensuring the opposition party encountered a more energetic and organised NDC in the constituency.
New constituency executives
Jabari will be supported by Obiri Yeboa, who was elected Vice Chairman, while Luqman Bin Wise Mumuni becomes Secretary and Appiah Augustine Deputy Secretary.
John Atumtia Abubakari was elected Organiser, with Appiah Isaac as Deputy Organiser. Isaac Paintsil will serve as Youth Organiser and Rosemar Adjei as Deputy Youth Organiser.
Nana Adwoa Barikisu Musa was elected Women Organiser, supported by Ellen Owusu as Deputy Women Organiser. Osman Muhammed will coordinate the Zongo Caucus.
The financial positions will be held by Daniel Basepwa, who was elected Treasurer, and Desmond Aziwini, the Deputy Treasurer. Francis Kwame Agyekum becomes Communication Officer, with Blessing Nti Fourdjour as Deputy Communication Officer.
The wider executive structure also includes eight additional members and other youth organisers, according to the information provided.
Jabari’s victory places the focus on how the new leadership will consolidate the NDC’s grassroots base, address internal differences and coordinate its preparations for the 2028 elections. It must also bring together supporters of the various candidates after a competitive internal contest.
The new executives’ work in the coming months will determine whether the campaign pledges can be converted into stronger branch-level engagement and sustained mobilisation. For Jabari, the immediate task is to establish a common agenda for the constituency while working with the newly elected team to advance the party.
