Ivorian arrested for possessing Indian hemp

The Personnel of the Sekondi Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the Police Service have arrested a 26-year old Ivorian, Kouadio Junior, for possessing 66 wrappers of Indian hemp.

He has been remanded into police custody and charged for unauthorized possession of narcotics. Mr Ebenezer Nartey, Detective Police Officer, said the police acted upon a tip-off and arrested Kouadio Bedifom in Takoradi.

When Kouadio was arrested, he was in possession of 66 wrappers of the said dry leaves.

The suspect claimed ownership of the wrappers and mentioned one “Gari” as his supplier.

The police have since mounted a search for Gari whilst investigations continue.
