Ivor, Sakara, Samia accused of blowing CPP funds in 2012

It has been revealed that Ivor Greenstreet, 2016 flagbearer of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Dr Abu Sakara, flagbearer of the CPP in the 2012 elections, and Ms Samia Nkrumah, a one-time flagbearer hopeful of the party, were unable to disclose the sources of cash they distributed to CPP agents in the 2012 elections, although a committee report that indicted them asked them to do so.

A member of the CPP, who doubles as the president of Osagyefo Youth Movement (OYM), Amankwaa Appiah, in an interview with ClassFMonline.com on Monday July 4, said: “In 2012, three days to the election, the party distributed some monies to party agents. The CPP in the Central Region got GHS30,000 and after the election, a committee was set up [to look into the source of the money]. Up to today, the report has not been implemented by the party. The money was meant for the polling agents, but we don’t know the source of the money.”

He added: “… The report indicted some people but implementation hasn’t taken place. It indicted Abu Sakara, Ivor Greenstreet, Samia [Nkrumah] and all that.”

He further expressed concerns about how the party’s Youth Organiser Ernesto Yeboah and General Secretary Nii Armah Akomfrah, have been suspended for actions and comments relating to the controversial Ford Expedition gift saga involving President John Mahama.

According to Mr Appiah, the two, who have been suspended, had issues with President Mahama, therefore, their action should not warrant a suspension from the CPP. “Those that they have suspended, it is President Mahama they have issues with and so how can the CPP suspend them?” he asked.
