Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has described it as “a blessing” to become the first manager in Ghana’s history to qualify the national team for two consecutive FIFA World Cup tournaments.
Addo, who led Ghana to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after defeating rivals Nigeria in the playoffs, has now almost guided the team to the 2026 tournament, cementing his place in the country’s football history.
Speaking about the achievement, the former Ghana international expressed gratitude and humility.
“I think it’s a blessing,” he said. “To be the first coach to qualify the Black Stars to two successive World Cups is something very special.”
Addo’s journey has not been without criticism, but his record in major qualifiers speaks for itself. Under his leadership, Ghana have shown resilience and consistency, especially in crucial matches.
If qualification secured, attention will now turn to preparations for the tournament, and whether Addo can guide the Black Stars to a deep run on the world stage.
