Ghana head coach Otto Addo has urged his players to remain focused and avoid complacency as the Black Stars prepare for their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic (C.A.R.) on Wednesday.
The four-time African champions top Group I with 19 points and could seal qualification to next year’s tournament with a win, provided Madagascar drop points against Comoros.
Speaking ahead of the clash in Meknes, Morocco, Addo described complacency as a “big danger” and reminded his side of the lessons from their previous away fixture against Chad.
“We were very happy with the result against Mali, and we are taking this positive feeling into the C.A.R. game,” Addo told reporters.
“Everything is in our hands, but I hope we learned the lesson from the last away game. It’s important that we stay focused and not think we have already won because that is a big danger.”
Ghana head into the tie unbeaten in their last six qualifiers, including last month’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Mali.
The team has been in Meknes since the weekend, fine-tuning preparations for what could be a defining moment in their World Cup campaign.
The match kicks off at 16:00 GMT at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes, where the Black Stars will be aiming to take a decisive step toward their fifth World Cup appearance.
