I’m not interested in NDC chairmanship post – Ofosu Ampofo

A former Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has indicated he has no ambition of contesting the National Chairmanship position of governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo who is a former National Organiser of the NDC, said on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem programme on Monday that, he is committed to serving the party in any capacity he finds himself but not in the chairmanship position. It is not clear if he will contest any other position at congress.

The name of the former Eastern Regional Minister and that of National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Kofi Porturphy, have been rumoured as possible candidates to unseat the incumbent, Dr. Kwabena Adjei.

The latest development now leaves Mr. Porturphy as the sole challenger to Dr. Kwabena Adjei ahead of the congress.

Mr. Ofou Ampofo believes serving currently as a member of the National Executive Council of the party and also the one in charge of piloting of the biometric registration of members of the party, he is equally contributing towards the progress of the NDC.
