I won’t miss EC job – Afari Gyan

Outgoing chairman of the Electoral Commission Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan has told Kafui Dey on the Morning Starr that he will not miss the position which he has held for close to 23 years.

According to him, that chapter of his life is closed and will not be revisited.

When asked by Kafui if he will miss his job, Dr Afar Gyan replied: “I have done this work for a very long time, everybody gets tired for doing something for so long and so no; I will not miss it”.

Dr Afari Gyan who turns 70 today retired as chairman of Ghana’s Electoral Commission Wednesday, June 17, 2015.

He said the retirement now gives him the opportunity to take care of his farm which he has maintained for quite some time now.

“I have always said that I will be going into farming. I have had a farm for the past 17 years and I am going to pay attention to it. I have fish and Noni in my farm; those are the only things I grow now,” he stated Thursday.

Dr Gyan, who has helped conduct elections in other African countries and has been at the helm of affairs since 1993, has finally brought public service to a close.
