I support the NPP boycott – Freddie Blay

A former Chairman of Parliament’s Appointments Committee, Freddie Blay has described the NPP’s boycott of the Ministerial vetting as unfortunate but expressed his support for the decision.

“It is a decision that the party has taken and I as Freddie Blay I support the decision taken by the party. It’s unfortunate; I think it is not good for our development. It is a principled position that the party has taken, it pricks our conscience and lets us examine what is happening and look at it critically to ensure that there is a consensus and objective position to take.”

According to the former First Deputy Speaker the move does not auger well for the nation’s democracy.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Wednesday morning, Mr. Blay expressed worry that the decision by the NPP MPs will take away the quality that usually characterizes the vetting process.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Alfred Agbesi said the committee cannot be bothered by the NPP’s boycott. “We have honorable men who are on the committee and will do the work.”
