The Sefwi Bekwai District Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Reverend PATRICK KWABENA YIRENKYI, has urged today’s youth to honour and celebrate their fathers while they are alive.
He emphasized that fathers, being the head of the family, deserve to be cherished and celebrated, just like mothers.
Rev. Yirenkyi made this call during a historic 95th birthday celebration organized by SOLOMON ANIAH (SOLANI) and his siblings in honour of their father, Mr. J.K. ANIAH, in Bibiani.
He noted that while people often celebrate their mothers’ birthdays in grand style, fathers are frequently neglected.
Rev. Yirenkyi encouraged those who have neglected their fathers due to circumstances to reconsider their decision and show love and appreciation.
In an interview with the media, the man of God referenced a biblical statement emphasizing the importance of honouring “your father who gave birth to you or who brought you out” and commended the Aniah family for celebrating their father’s 95th birthday.
Rev. Yirenkyi emphasized that, occasions of this nature are normally organised to celebrate mothers but this particular one has changed the status quo.
KWASI AGYEMANG, a businessman and friend to Solani encouraged children to care for their fathers, adding that fathers should not shirk their responsibilities, as abandoning their children brings a curse.
