Germany-Ghana winger Farid Alfa-Ruprecht has joined Hertha BSC from Leverkusen on loan, moving from the Bundesliga to the 2. Bundesliga. The 20-year-old right winger completed the switch on 20 August 2026 and becomes part of Hertha’s squad for the new campaign.
Alfa-Ruprecht was born in Hamburg and holds German and Ghanaian nationality. He is 1.81m tall, predominantly uses his right foot and operates from the right side of attack. His arrival gives Hertha another wide option as the Berlin club strengthens its squad in Germany’s second tier.
The move brings Alfa-Ruprecht back to Germany after a spell connected with Manchester City’s youth system. He won the English Youth League with Manchester City Under-18s in the 2022-23 season and followed that success by lifting the English FA Youth Cup with the same age group in 2023-24.
He also collected a Premier League Under-21 winners’ medal with Manchester City Under-21s in the 2024-25 campaign. Those honours represent the main competitive achievements of a young player now returning to German football through Hertha.
Alfa-Ruprecht’s previous club, Leverkusen, compete in the Bundesliga, while Hertha are based in the 2. Bundesliga. The loan therefore places him immediately in a different division and gives him a new setting in which to continue his senior career. No transfer fee has been disclosed for the move.
The winger’s market value is listed at €3m, while his contract is set to run until 30 June 2027. Hertha BSC have now completed the loan signing of Farid Alfa-Ruprecht.
