Health workers urged to focus on improving the quality of care for patients

Dr Boakye Agyemang, Deputy Ashanti Regional Director of Health Services in-charge of Clinical Care, has urged health workers to focus on improving the quality of care for patients.

He said health workers must maintain high standards of professionalism, show empathy for the sick, and do everything to bring relief to those suffering and help to save lives.

He spoke of plans by the Regional Health Management Team (RHMT) to provide regular training for health professionals to promote efficiency.

Dr Agyemang was inaugurating an eight-member Advisory Board for the Onwi Government Hospital in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality.

It is chaired by Dr Gabriel Boakye, a Consultant Anesthesiologist and a senior lecturer at the School of Medical Science, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

The Deputy Regional Health Director said the expectation was that the members would bring their expertise and varied experiences to bear on the management of the facility.

He said they were also expected to assist to make the hospital patient-friendly, so that it would become the first point of call by the sick in the area.

Dr Boakye said they were grateful for the honour done them and pledged not to disappoint.

The board would work together with the staff and the community to enhance the operations of the facility.

It would soon organize a fund raising ceremony to mobilize money to support the development of the hospital.

Dr Regina Appiah, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, praised the members for accepting to serve on the board.
