Haruna Atta is a “spoilt child” – MP

A Co-chairman of the committee set up to mark the first anniversary of the passing away of H.E. Alhaji Aliu Mahama, Hon. Osei Bonsu Amoah, has posited that the Editor of the Accra Mail, Alhaji Haruna Atta, is not more “NDC than those already in the party” and cautioned him to “stop dragging Alhaji Aliu Mahama’s name into the mud”.

Haruna Attah, who was a member of the Aliu Mahama Anniversary Publicity Committee, distanced himself from an address delivered by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s 2012 vice presidential candidate, during the maiden Aliu Mahama Memorial Lecture.

He issued a statement accusing Dr. Bawumia of deviating from the topic “Discipline in economic management: the key to sustainable growth and prosperity” and exploiting the platform by indulging in an unwarranted partisan political point scoring exercise.

The Accra Mail Editor described Dr Bawumia’s address as a desecration of the memory of the man the lecture was supposed to ennoble, and apologized to President Mahama for the “unfair” and “uncalled-for” attack.

But speaking on Asempa FM, Hon O.B Amoah, who also doubles as the Member of Parliament for Akwapim South, was at a loss why the apology was issued.

“Why is he apologising to President Mahama?…for what reason?…or because someone is criticising his (President Mahama) government? He (Haruna Atta) called himself a democrat, I don’t believe this. Is he trying to impress the president? I don’t even think the president will be impressed…We should rather deliberate on the good things Dr. Bawumia said. Let’s not give priority to Haruna Atta who is a spoilt child and wants everyone to follow him,” he opined.
