Hairdresser granted bail for assault

A 29-year-old woman residing in Winneba has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢1,000.00 with one surety by the Winneba District Magistrate Court for assault. Rita Agyarko a hairdresser pleaded guilty with explanation but the court presided over by Mr. Charles Owusu Nsiah entered a plea of not guilty in her favor and granted her bail in the sum of 1,000.00 Ghana Cedis with a surety to re-appear before it on 12th December, 2014.

Narrating the fact of the case, Prosecution Police Detective Sergeant Peter Agbelie said, the complainant one Ms. Angelina Odoom, a trader lives in the same vicinity with the accused person in Winneba.

The prosecution said, on 27th October, 2014, the accused person went to the house of the complainant and confronted her on a statement she the accused alleged to have been made by the complainant about her husband.

This resulted in exchange of words between them and in the process the accused held the complainant’s dress at the chest and slapped her many times in the face, the prosecution said.

Prosecution Police Detective Sgt. Agbelie said the complainant reported the matter to the police and the accused was arrested and in her cautioned statement admitted the offence and after investigations she was arraigned.
