Hairdresser charged for causing harm

Accra, Oct.26, GNA – A hairdresser accused of beating a pregnant trader to have a miscarriage was put before a Circuit Court in Accra charged with causing harm.

Magdalene Antwi pleaded not guilty and the Court admitted her to 30 million cedis bail with a surety to reappear on November 23. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Alice Takyiwa said Magdalene was a regulator visitor to the house where her husband lived and she slept there in the night and would leave early morning without cleaning the house, especially the toilet and the bathhouse.

In August this year, at about 2030 hours, Magdalene went to the bath to urinate but Ms Akosua Kusiwaa, the Trader, prevented her from doing so. Prosecution said that led to a quarrel and Magdalene became angry and smashed Ms Kusiwaa’s head against a wall and she fell. Magdalene, Prosecution said, kicked Ms Kusiwaa in her abdomen and hit her with a stone rendering her unconscious and bled from her lower abdomen and her head.

A tenant in the house rescued Ms Kusiwaa and rushed her to La Polyclinic but she had a miscarriage.
