Gyan meets CID

Baffour Gyan, a former Ghanaian international and senior brother of Black Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan, on Monday, September 8 reported himself at the Kumasi Central Police Station in connection with an alleged assault on a journalist last Friday.

Baffour Gyan is said to have led a group of men to assault Daniel Kenu, the Ashanti Region Editor of the Graphic Communications Group, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium over a question the journalist had asked Asamoah Gyan at a Black Stars press conference.

Baffour Gyan turned himself in to the police after he was declared wanted last Saturday.

He was granted bail with sureties, one of which is to report himself at the police station on Monday.

Though he was asked to report at 9:00am, the former Czech Republic-based footballer reported at 10:30am, our reporter said.

According to TV3’s Ibrahim Abubakr, Gyan reported in the company of some friends.

The Ashanti Region Criminal Investigations Department (CID) engaged the footballer and the journalist in a meeting, our correspondent reported on Monday.

Daniel Kenu is also reported to have been approached by some officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for an out-of-court settlement but the journalist insists he will follow the case to the highest court of jurisdiction.

He is set for head scans over the assault.
