Gvot to send service personnel Abroad

Government is considering expanding to communities outside Ghana the range of voluntary service opportunities for post-service National Service Personnel.

The additional voluntary service programme, which was designed originally for the benefit of District Assemblies, will create opportunities for committed and public-spirited young people to serve as Ghana?s goodwill ambassadors? to other countries.

President Kufuor announced this in a speech read on his behalf in Accra yesterday at the opening of the 7th Global Conference of the International Association for National Youth Service (IANYS).

He said the Ghana Government was committed to organising, within the next few years, a well co-ordinated voluntary service programme, adding that this would attract a lot more young people.

The conference brought together over 100 participants from Argentina, Belgum, Canada, India, Liberia, New Zealand, Nigeria and the USA.
