A Human Rights group, POS foundation is to petition the Inspector General of Police and the Chief Justice over some medical officers at the Police Hospital forging medical reports indicting rape suspects.
Starr News investigations revealed that doctors engaging in the act do so for a fee without physically conducting the needed medical examination on the alleged rape victims.
Starr News’ Wilberforce Asare who visited the hospital on different occasions with a pseudo victim’s name, had two separate defilement reports written for him for court purposes without any scrutiny or medical check on the supposed victim.
A medical officer, Dr. Maglene Cabrera Fonseca, who wrote the report, according to Asare, never requested for a view of the victim, on whose behalf, the charges were being pressed.
Although, the police internal committee is probing the matter currently, the human rights group wants the issue further investigated.
Jonathan Osei Owusu, the executive director of the human rights group, POS foundation said the internal investigation by the Police is not enough.
He added that the Police hospital needs an overhaul in its operations and how medical reports are issued.
