GPRTU lost 12 drivers at flood, fire disaster

The Greater Accra Regional Secretariat of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has received with shock the suspected death of 12 of its members reported to be among the victims of the explosion which occurred on Wednesday.

Mr Emmanuel Nii Ankrah, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman, in a statement issued and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said one of the drivers was identified to be a member of the Odawna Express branch of the union.

He statement said 11 others, who were also identified, were members of the Odawna Trotro branch.

The secretariat has extended its condolences to families who lost their relations in the explosion, especially GPRTU members.

“We the Greater Accra Regional Executives remain shocked and share in the pain of all the victims who lost their lives during the unfortunate fire incident at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and its surroundings”., the statement added.
