Gov’t supports families of Beposo victims of June 3 disaster

Mr Peter Anarfi Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister, on Saturday attended the final funeral rites of five Beposo citizens who were among the 160 people who lost their lives in the June 3, Accra twin disaster.

Mr Mensah donated GHC10,000 to each of the four deceased families.

He said the fifth victim person could not be identified and so advised the family to contact the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo constituency for the necessary action. Present at the funeral grounds were Nana Boamah Kwabi IV, Omanhene of Beposo, Mr Ebenezer Akuoko Frimpong, Sekyere Central District Chief Executive and Mr Kwame Asafu-Adjei, MP for the area.

The victims were Kwasi Duku, 42; Joseph Kwadwo Boakye, 26; Kwaku Tawiah, 23; and Augustine Boamah, 26 who were carpet sellers in Accra.

They were buried at the public cemetery after they were laid in state. Kennedy Agyemang, 25, whose body was badly disfigured could not be conveyed to Beposo according to Miss Janet Donkor, sister of the deceased.
