Gov’t is sole financier of projects in STMA – Minister

Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, said no oil company or non-governmental organisation was funding the ongoing road projects being undertaken in the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis.

He said the reconstruction of the 8.5km dual carriage way with median, the Kansaworodo road and the over 75 km asphalt road projects were all being financed by the Government of Ghana with funds from the consolidated fund.

The Minister said: “We are being misinformed that all these projects are being financed by individuals, non-governmental organisations or oil companies. No oil company has given a pesewa in the form of social responsibility or whatever in the payment of work done”.

Mr Aidoo said the initial phase of the road projects had been completed at a cost of 19, 600,000 Ghana cedis with the second phase of 25 km to begin at an initial cost of 25 million Ghana cedis.

The Regional Minister commended traders at the Market Circle for helping to decongest the market and pave way for both vehicular and human movement.
