GNFS says freeze on recruitment still holds

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on Wednesday said Management of the Service had been notified of the activities of some unscrupulous persons purporting to recruit unsuspecting members of the public into the Service.

A statement issued and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said ‘the freeze on recruitment still holds and warned the public to report any recruitment advertisement to GNFS.’

The statement said in September this year, Management had cause to issue a press statement cautioning the public against paying money to anyone for recruitment into the GNFS.

“We want to assure the public that recruitment into the service is done on regional basis, in a transparent manner through advertisement in the media followed by purchase of forms, invitation of qualified persons for body selection and examination and finally medical screening,” the statement said.

It said Management wished to make it clear to the public that there was no plan to recruit personnel into the Service at the moment.

Any intended recruitment shall be duly advertised in the dailies for the attention of the public

It said any member of the public who paid money through any intermediary for the purpose of recruitment did so at his or her own risk.

The statement advised the general public to report the conduct of such persons to any nearest Fire Station or Police for the appropriate action to be taken.
