GNFS intensifies fire safety education in schools

Fire-fighters in the Adansi South District have stepped up fire safety campaign as the dry weather conditions continue to drag on.

Officers of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have been visiting schools and worship centres to provide vital titbits on fire prevention.

Thins comes amid reported incidents of domestic and wildfire from across the country, resulting in the loss of lives and massive destruction to property.

Addressing students of the New Edubiase Senior High School (SHS) as part of the drive to create the needed awareness, Mr. Amissah Arthur, the District Fire Safety Officer, asked everybody to act more responsibly.

The negligence – careless handling of electrical appliances and naked fires would have to end, he added.

He advised the students to adhere to safety precautions to help prevent any fire outbreak.

Mr. Arthur told them to be careful in their use of electrical gadgets – to see to it that “plugs are disconnected from electrical sources, if not in use”.

The students were taken through fire-fighting lessons.
