GJA elects new National Treasurer

Accra, July 9, GNA – At the close of voting on Thursday, July 9, for the position of National Treasurer of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Mrs Linda Asante Agyei of the Ghana News Agency was elected with 180 votes.

Her sole challenger, Mrs Esi Asante, a freelance journalist, polled 166 votes.

A statement signed by Mr Ben Assorow, Ghana Journalists Association Elections Committee said at the close of nominations on Wednesday, June 24, Mr Ransford Tetteh, Editor of the Daily Graphic, was returned unopposed as President.

Mr Affail Monney, Head of News, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Mr Bright Kwame Blewu, a freelance journalist and Mr Dave Agbenu, Chief Report, New Times Corporation, were also returned unopposed as Vice President, General Secretary and Organizing Secretary respectively. Mr Mathias Tibu, Assistant Registrar (Publications) Ghana Institute of Journalism, was returned unopposed as the new Public Affairs Manager. The Elections Committee of the GJA expressed its appreciation and thanked the Executive and members of the GJA for giving them the opportunity to serve. 09 July 09
