GIS gives to school for the blind

The Interact Club of Ghana International School (GIS) on Tuesday presented food items and toiletries worth close to GHC10,000 to the Akropong School for the blind.

The items included bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, packs of soft drinks, boxes of washing soap, detergents, packs of T’Roll, boxes of sanitary towels etc.

Club President Briana Boadi, president of the Club in a post-presentation ceremony interview pointed out that “we at GIS Interact Club believe in sharing, and there is no better time to share with our esteemed friends than this festive season.

“We believe in impacting positively on society, and I believe these items will go a long way in putting smiles on the faces of our friends.

“It is our collective desire that as students we can work together to grow academically and vocationally in order to become great citizens that our country can be proud of.”

Headmistress of the School, Madam Mahela Narh, expressed profuse thanks to GIS for the gesture saying, “We are indeed grateful for this gesture, it will certainly make this Christmas a memorable one for the children.

“GIS has been a consistent donor, and we want to say a very big thank you again, you don’t despise us, but you draw us closer to your programs and events”.

Last year, the school initiated a literacy program that embarked on a donation of books to the La Wireless Cluster of Schools. Earlier, it donated classroom furniture to two schools in Asamankese and Leklebi-Duga in the Volta Region.

Founded in 1955, the school with a 1400 population from over 50 countries has embarked on countless charitable projects and it the only international school in Ghana accredited by both New England Association of Schools and Colleges(NEASC) and the Council of the Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA).
