GhanaWeb is now deploying the Zend Performance Suite to further improve the performance of the ‘official’ Ghana website.
GhanaWeb has been implemented with PHP which is the most widely deployed web development language on the Internet. PHP is open source which means that it is constantly being improved and enhanced by enthusiastic developers. The Zend Performance Suite is a commercial extension to PHP from Zend Technologies Inc which improves both the performance and the capacity of PHP-based websites.
The investment has effectively doubled GhanaWeb’s capacity to cope with the ever increasing traffic. In January 2005 the traffic reached 16 million page views as compared to the 11 million page views per month in 2004.
