Ghana’s envoy to Mali commends troops for making sacrifices

Ghana’s Ambassador to Mali, Mr Donald Adabre has applauded troops of the Ghana Engineer Company 1 (GHANENG COY 1) for making sacrifices to ensure Mali regains her territorial integrity.

GHANENG COY 1, which is part of the African-Led International Support Mission in Mali (AFISMA) has displayed a high level of professionalism since arriving about a month ago, he said.

A statement signed by Lieutenant Commander Ma Larbi, for Director of Public relations of the Ghana Armed Forces and copied to Ghana News Agency said on Thursday.

According to the statement, the Ambassador made the commendation during a flag-hoisting ceremony organised by the contingent to mark Ghana’s 56th Independence Anniversary at the Air Force Base in Senou-Bamako.

The ambassador said Ghana was in full support of AFRISMA to help Mali secure the country from separatists and insurgent groups.

“This position taken by Ghana is to buttress Dr Kwame Nkrumah call for total African liberation 56 years ago”, he added.

He expressed admiration for the level of patriotism displayed by the Ghana armed forces over the past decades.

“This is an indication that the sweat and toil of our forebears which gave us independence have not been in vain.

“I therefore urge you all to safeguard the modest gains of Ghana’s independence as a legacy for posterity”, he added.

Ambassador Adabre later donated a 50 inch LCD Television to the troops.
