Ghanaians appreciate China’s development success story – Veep

Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur says the country appreciates the impressive record of the development success story of China and has assured of the government’s determination to replicate the example.

Mr Amissah-Arthur was speaking at a meeting with M. A. Blao, the visiting Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, at the Flagstaff House in Accra.

He noted that the relations between Ghana and China go a long way back to the colonial days, and expressed the hope that the two countries would exploit the bilateral ties to the mutual benefit to their people.

He expressed happiness that the two countries are deepening cooperation in the economic and political fronts.

Vice President said the country has not only become a significant importer of Chinese products, but has also attracted significant Chinese investments including the three billion- dollar loan.

He commended China for the construction of the ultra-modern Foreign Ministry’s building at no cost to Ghana.

Mr Blao said China regards Ghana as a strategic partner in the country’s effort to deepen economic relations with Africa.

The Chinese delegation was accompanied by, Mr Doe Adjaho, Speaker of Parliament and two members of the opposition New Patriotic Party.

Mr Adjaho commended the deepening of relations between the Ghanaian Parliament and Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
