Government has been tasked to ensure visa applicants in Ghana are treated fairly by various embassies both inside and outside the country, Minority spokesperson on Parliamentary Select Committee on Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has stated.
“Ghanaians must be treated fairly by these embassies”, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmaker for North Tongu in the Volta Region insisted.
The lawmaker on a floor of parliament raised concerns on treatment meted out to Ghanaian visa applicants by some embassies in the country.
“It is indeed sad to observe that most of these embassies in question have made no provision whatsoever for a decent and safe waiting area where visa applicants may be hosted as they wait their turn during visa interview appointments”, Hon. Samuel Okudjato Ablakwa told colleague legislators.
Giving further details on the matter on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM, the NDC lawmaker said, it is time for the Ghanaian government to seek better treatment for people seeking visa from foreign embassies in the country.
“The Foreign Ministry must see to it that the unfair treatment meted to visa applicants is seized”, the lawmaker pointed out on “Kroye Mu Nsem” hosted by Aduana Kofi Asante Ennin.
