Ghanaian shot dead in Amsterdam-Osdorp identified

The 37-year-old Ghanaian who was shot Tuesday night in Amsterdam-Osdorp, has been identified as a busboy in The Plantation restaurant next to Artis Zoo. Augustine Nyantakyi was described by friends as a quiet and peaceful boy who was a frequent church goer.
Reports by Het Parool on Thursday say Nyantakyi played in a music band of the Jesus Christ Church Foundation in Southeast during his free time and was also a familiar face in the Ghanaian community.
The Ghanaian community cannot be linked with the crime and they wondered if Nyantakyi without their knowledge was active in the underworld or maybe he was a victim of mistaken identity.
The police on the other hand have no evidence linking him with the crime.
Nyantakyi was Tuesday night shot in Wolbrantskerkweg with a large number of bullets from an automatic firearm.
The police hope to track down the perpetrators with the help of images from a camera that hangs on the third floor above the balcony he was shot. The victim was lying almost directly beneath the camera.
