The Special Operations Team (SOT) of the Ghana Police Service has detained 41 people following an intelligence-led operation targeting suspected criminal and narcotics-related activity in Lapaz and Chantan.
The operation took place at about 12:00 noon on 15th October, 2026.
Police said the suspects consist of 35 males and six females. Searches carried out on those arrested, as well as in the areas covered by the operation, resulted in the recovery of quantities of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances.
All 41 suspects remain in police custody while they assist with ongoing investigations.
The Ghana Police Service is working to establish the source, ownership and intended use of the suspected narcotics. Appropriate legal action will be taken against any suspect found culpable, police said.
