Chief of the Defence Staff Lieutenant General William Agyapong has inspected the Ghana Army’s ongoing Legacy projects at Teshie, where construction of a three-storey facility is about 75% complete.
Lieutenant General Agyapong was accompanied by generals and senior officers during the visit, which was intended to assess progress and help ensure the facilities are completed on schedule.
The inspection highlighted the Ghana Army’s continued investment in modern military infrastructure, with the projects aimed at improving administration, strengthening operational readiness and providing a suitable working environment for personnel.
Colonel Albert Tekyi, the Project and Service Officer at Army Headquarters, briefed the delegation on the construction of the COAS Legacy project at Whistler Barracks, Teshie.
He said work on the building had progressed through excavation, foundation construction and the development of the structural framework. Plastering and tiling are also under way.
Colonel Tekyi said he was confident that CGM Company Limited, the project contractor, would complete the outstanding work within the planned timeframe. Finishing work is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
Lieutenant General Agyapong thanked the Engineers of the 49 Engineers Regiment and CGM Company Limited for their work, commitment and sacrifices in advancing the projects.
He praised the progress made so far and urged those involved to maintain their efforts so the facilities could be delivered by the stipulated deadlines.
