Ghana must review gun control laws – CCG

The Christian Council of Ghana has called for a review of the country’s gun control laws.

The call follows the conviction of the 36-year-old man who was arrested at the Church of the President and the Chief Justice with a gun.

An Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday slapped a ten-year jail term on Charles Antwi.

But Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni Frimpong, General Secretary of the Christian Council says the situation calls for a review of the country’s gun control laws to ensure public safety.

“We have to re-visit gun laws in this country and the issue about public security…because at the moment the rate we are recording gun use in public, I mean in elections, chieftaincy matters we need to tighten gun laws in this country.

“I think some measures quickly must be taken to ensure public security in Ghana at the moment,” Rev. Opuni Frimpong said.
