Ghanaian midfielder Abu Francis has completed a historic move to French Ligue 1 club Toulouse FC, signing a four-year contract after parting ways with Belgian side Club Brugge.
The 23-year-old becomes the first Ghanaian footballer to sign for the southern French club, marking a significant step in his professional career and a proud moment for Ghanaian football.
Toulouse, nicknamed “Les Violets”, confirmed the signing on their official channels, describing Abu as a versatile and dynamic midfielder who brings energy, vision, and youth to their squad ahead of the new season.
Abu Francis began his European football journey with Danish side FC Nordsjælland, where he developed through the ranks before making the switch to Club Brugge. Despite limited game time in Belgium, he remains highly regarded for his technical ability and potential.
The move comes at a time when Toulouse is rebuilding its squad to challenge strongly in Ligue 1 and domestic competitions, with head coach Carles Martínez seeking to inject fresh talent into midfield.
Abu’s arrival not only strengthens Toulouse’s options but also expands Ghana’s growing presence in top European leagues. His development will be closely watched by Black Stars head coach Otto Addo as Ghana continues preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
