The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has instituted measures to ensure that commercial drivers abide by traffic regulations within the Burma Camp military installation.
The measures instituted by the Ghana Military Police (GMP), are part of the process to streamline the activities of the drivers.
A statement issued by Major F.K. Ampobi, on behalf of the GAF Public Relations Directorate in Accra at the weekend and copied to Ghana News Agency, said the GMP has clamped down on the springing up of unauthorized locations of taxi ranks within the Burma Camp barracks.
It said a meeting convened by the Acting Provost Marshall of the Ghana Armed Forces, Lt Col S.K.Gameli admonished the drivers to use only designated sites for their activities.
He also advised them to seek prior authorisation before engaging in any other activity within the barracks.
The drivers assured the Provost Marshall of their cooperation and agreed to form an association to guide their operations.
They also promised to weed out disobedient drivers and others who come into the barracks with hidden motives.
