GES Bans Shoes and Sox at Exam Centers

Even as this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations enters day two, Spy News Agency has gathered that some of the students have been prevented by invigilators from putting on Shoes and socks into the examination centers.
We gathered that the move is a new policy by the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry to check examination malpractices among others. It was quite embarrassing for some of the students when they were asked to remove their well-polished shoes at the entrance of the exam room.
Some of the teachers who accompanied the students to the centers told Spy News Agency that according to their directors “the directive is to prevent candidates from sending foreign materials into the exams hall”
We were unsuccessful in contacting the Greater Accra Director of Education for further details on the directive and why it has become necessary for such order.
However, some heads of schools contacted confirmed to us that they were told by GES to tell their students not to wear shoes and socks.
Some students at Awoshie, a suburb of Accra told our reporters the order is unfair and that it has put them in a bad mood for the exams. “I don’t even know how I’m going to concentrate on this paper,” one of them stated in confusion.
Some said in avoidance of the embarrassment they faced on the first day of the exam, they have decided to wear only “charley wortey” to the center.
