Accra, Sept. 10, GNA – The Ghana Education Service (GES) on Friday announced approved fees for second cycle institutions for 2004/2005 academic year, which show slight increases in feeding fees, government subsidy, amounts paid by boarding and day students, among others.
A statement signed by Mr Michael Kenneth Nsowah, Acting Director General, said the feeding fee is now 6,200 cedis per student per day from 5,500 cedis. This means the feeding fee per term would now be 578,667 cedis, up from 513,333 cedis.
It said day students would pay 25,000 cedis a term instead of 22,000 cedis while boarding students would pay 610,667 cedis instead of 537,333 cedis.
The statement said government subsidy has gone up from 131,000 cedis per student per term to 144,600 cedis.
Total fee payable once on admission has increased from 265,000 to 380,000 cedis as a result of approval for the supply of additional house dress/attire to new students.
The statement reminded all heads of schools that the Director-General of the GES must approve all PTA and other levies. These special levies, the statement said, should not exceed 10 per cent of the total fees approved by the GES Council.
