GAF promotes French language in all Garrisons

Accra, Mar.4, GNA – The Military High Command has instituted a French Day to be celebrated in all military establishments, to encourage personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to learn and speak French.

A statement issued in Accra by Colonel M, bawine Matintande, Director of Public Affair Directorate of the GAF, said the programme would include lectures, film shows, playlets and poetry recitals. It said although French was one of the major languages spoken all over the world, Ghanaians spoke little of it or do not understand it at all.

The statement said it was more serious especially as all the three neighbouring countries speaks French. It said Lieutenant General Peter Augustine Blay, Chief of Defence Staff, would visit the School of Education at the Military Academy and Training Schools on Friday to launch the programme officially.
