Four arraigned for robbery

Four persons on Friday appeared at an Accra Circuit Court for conspiracy to commit crime, assault and robbery.

Christian Nwugo, Moro Musah, Mohammed Tofic and Ali Moro allegedly conspired to cause harm to one Laura Akpene and robbed another Promise Okey of a Plasma TV worth GH¢ 1,800.00, three laptops worth GH¢ 2,400.00, two Nokia mobile phones valued at GH¢ 1,600.00, one I Phone worth GH¢ 800.00 and an amount of GH¢ 1,800.00. They all pleaded not guilty to the charges but were remanded by the court presided over by Mr Francis Obiri to reappear on June 23.

Police Chief Inspector E. Afful told the court that the complainant is a student residing at Laterbiokoshie, while Christian is a businessman, Moro a Fashion Designer, Mohammed a Scrap Dealer and Ali a trader all staying at Sukura. He said in May 4, Christian hired the service of Moro and to attack the complainant, to refund his money.

He said based on the information, Moro led a gang to the house of the complainant, where he met him together with his fiancée, Laura Akpene and Moro confronted him concerning the money. The prosecution said the complainant who sensed danger, fled from the house and left his fiancée alone.

The suspects then forcibly entered the complainant’s room and took away the items and the money. He told the court that the suspects also took one ladies bag belonging to the complainant’s fiancée and later assaulted her after which they fled with their booty.

Police Chief Inspector Afful said on June 6, Moro was arrested and when his room was searched the ladies bag belonging to the complainant’s fiancée was found in his room, and during interrogation he admitted the offence and mentioned Christian as the one who ordered them to attack the complainant.
