Forces relegate women to background

Although women’s participation in public institutions is a recent development, the security and law enforcement agencies are some of the institutions in which women are yet to make serious inroads. This situation has been confirmed by a study undertaken as part of the Women In Public Life Project, a programme which aims at creating awareness about the constraints that hamper women’s participation in public life as a result of their gender. An essential component of the programme is to equip women with the skills that would make their involvement more effective.
