Five arrested over GHC47,000.00 church robbery

Five men, who allegedly attacked a pastor and his wife with machetes and other deadly weapons and seized from them cash of GHC47,000.00 have been arrested.

Their names were given as Emmanuel Owusu, Atta Amoah, George Mensah, James Darko and Yaw Afrifa, alias “Maputo”.

The money had been raised at an end of year harvest of the Fire of Flood Church at Atwima-Manhyia on Sunday, December 13.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Felix Fosu-Agyemang, the Atwima Divisional Commander, told a news briefing that the money was being kept in the house of the Founder.

The five struck that very night, broke into the room of the room of Jones Okyere, severely him and the spouse. Akosua Serwaah, and made off with the cash.

A formal report was made to the police and the suspects were arrested based upon intelligence.

Pastor Okyere had already identified them as the very people who attacked them.

ACP Fosu-Agyemang urged people not to keep huge sums of money in their homes.
