Fisherman remanded for assaulting in-law’s husband

A fisherman from Moree, who assaulted his sister-in law’s husband, has been remanded in Police Custody by a Magistrate’s Court in Cape Coast.

Kobina Annan, the accused, pleaded guilty to assault and sentence was deferred to Thursday, March 29, by the presiding judge, Mr. Kwame Ohemeng-Mensah.

Prosecuting, Inspector Samuel Amoako, told the Court that the complainant, Paa Kwesi, who is the manager of Andy-12 Restaurant at Moree, was married to one Nana Amaaba, a sister of the accused person’s wife, Ms. Helena Donkor.

He said the accused person had separated from his wife pending final dissolution of the marriage.

Inspector Amoako said on February 20, Ms. Donkor was accompanied by two others to collect her sister’s personal belongings from her marital home, but Annan prevented her from doing so and it resulted in a fight but they were separated.

However, on February 28 at about 0800hours, Annan accosted Paa Kwesi on his way to work and without any provocation, assaulted him opening a cut under his right eye, Inspector Amoako said.**
