Fire outbreak at the University of Ghana

Accra, Feb. 27, GNA – Fire has destroyed two offices at the Mfodwo Complex, popularly called N- Block of the University of Ghana, Legon. The fire, which started around 0145 hours on Saturday destroyed official documents, TV sets, computers, refrigerators, air-conditioners, fax machines, projectors and swivel chairs at the Social Work Department.

Members of the Legon Chosen Vessels Choir, who were rehearsing at one of the lecture halls nearby detected smoke from the complex and raised the alarm.

The local security personnel and the choristers managed to salvage some examination booklets and musical instruments from the ravaging fire.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service moved in quickly to stop the blaze.
