Finger pointing, acrimony can cost us 2016 polls – Akufo-Addo

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on all party members and supporters to cease fire immediately.

Addressing party supporters on current happenings within the party, Nana Akufo-Addo said the lies, finger pointing and acrimony within the party is likely to harm their chances in the upcoming 2016 elections.

“Having heard so many people, my first call on party members and supporters is to cease fire. The finger pointing, name calling, insults, lies, denigrating of past and current leaders must stop”.

According to the former Attorney General, the infighting would only arm their political opponents in the 2016 presidential polls.

“They are to be roundly condemned…there is absolutely nothing to be gained from internal recriminations within the NPP except to provide fertile soil for our opponents”.

He added that the regional chairmen of the party should not see the attack and subsequent death of the Upper East regional Chairman Adams Mahama as an attack on all of them but rather be united in his death and work together.

“None of us must forget that the people of Ghana look up to us to rescue our nation and we dare not jeopardize this sacred trust by fruitless internal strife,” Nana Addo added.
