Federation of Muslim Councils calls for law on homosexuality

The Federation of Muslim Councils (FMC) has called on Parliament to enact a law that would make homosexuality a punishable offence, whether practiced publicly or in private.

It noted that there was no law against the act, but the practice of homosexuality was filthy, indecent, immoral and unhealthy.

The call was contained in a statement signed by Hajj Abdullah S. Williams, National Coordinator of FMC in Accra on Monday.

The statement called on all moral-minded Ghanaians, faith-based organisations and political parties to support and sustain the crusade for the betterment of society.

It pointed out that if not resisted the practice would be a canker that would destroy the moral fabric of society and make nonsense of the teaching of morals and religious knowledge to children.
