Fatawu Issahaku Left Out of Black Stars Squad Named for World Cup Qualifiers

Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has been left out of Otto Addo’s 24-man Black Stars squad for next month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.

The Leicester City attacker, who recently marked his return from a long-term injury with a stunning goal in the English Championship, was expected by many fans to feature. However, his omission comes as the Black Stars boss seeks to balance experience with in-form newcomers.

Addo’s squad includes regulars Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, Inaki Williams and Antoine Semenyo. Union Berlin’s Derrick Arthur Köhn has been handed his maiden call-up, while Caleb Yirenkyi and Christopher Bonsu Baah also make the list.

The Black Stars, who currently lead Group I with 15 points, will travel to N’Djamena to face Chad on Thursday, September 4, before hosting Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8, 2025.
