The disclosure comes as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to reclaim encroached lands in line with its broader mandate of supporting housing and infrastructure development.
Speaking to the media in Accra on Thursday, September 4, TDC’s Managing Director, Courage Makafui Nunekpeku, revealed that the officer’s contract had been terminated following internal investigations.
He added that the land—situated behind Tema Secondary School—had since been repossessed for public use.
“The NPP Tema Central Constituency Secretary sold that place to his wife at a cost of GHS2,000. I have the documents to prove it. When I investigated, I said no, this cannot happen. I engaged the woman, terminated the contract, and ensured the land was returned to the state,” he explained.
Mr. Nunekpeku stressed that the move was not about grabbing land but about safeguarding public property.
“I am not taking over any land. I am simply doing what is right for Ghanaians. The contract was terminated, and now the site will be used for a public toilet,” he added.
Meanwhile, on allegations raised by the Peaceful Settlers’ Association against the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly over attempts to seize lands they claim are theirs despite a court injunction, Mr. Nunekpeku noted that TDC is engaging relevant stakeholders to ensure a peaceful resolution.
