Ghanaian-French midfielder Elisha Owusu has joined Turkish club Erzurumspor FK from AJ Auxerre, completing a move that takes the 28-year-old to the Super Lig.
Owusu plays primarily as a defensive midfielder and arrives after two-and-a-half seasons with Auxerre. He joined the French club from Belgian side KAA Gent in January 2023 and helped Auxerre win the French second tier during the 2023-24 season.
The Montreuil-born player made 66 appearances in Ligue 2 for Auxerre, scoring once and providing three assists. He also featured 57 times in Ligue 1, contributing one goal and three assists, as well as appearing in domestic cup competition.
Owusu’s move to Erzurumspor marks his return to Turkey’s top flight, where he will continue his career after establishing himself across the French and Belgian leagues. The transfer was completed on 19 August 2026.
Before moving to Auxerre, Owusu spent nearly four years with Gent. He made 77 appearances in the Belgian top flight and helped the club win the Belgian Cup in 2022. His time in Belgium also included European football, with appearances in the Europa League, Conference League and qualifying rounds of the Champions League.
Owusu began his senior career in France after progressing through Lyon’s youth system. He spent the 2018-19 season on loan at Sochaux before returning to Lyon, then moved to Gent in July 2019.
The right-footed midfielder stands 1.82 metres tall and has also featured on the international stage. At the 2026 World Cup, he played in three of his side’s four possible matches, starting 50% of the games and completing 42% of the available minutes.
He joins Erzurumspor with a market value of €4m and adds experience from Ligue 1, Ligue 2, the Belgian top flight and European competition to the Turkish club’s squad.
Owusu’s completed transfer from AJ Auxerre to Erzurumspor FK was registered on 19 August 2026.
